Controller
Playhut, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Controller to serve in a high growth, fast paced environment. These activities include: All financial reporting, presents findings and recommends to top management, general accounting, internal accounting controls, accounting systems and procedures, protection of corporate assets and, in organizations without a specific financial planning and analysis department, forecasting and budgeting. May also have functional responsibility for tax and cash management/treasury in smaller companies, which do not have specialists in these areas. Establishes and maintains the division’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts practices and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads, supervises and directs the Information Systems, billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable Departments, manages company budget, forecasts as well as special projects, including oversight of compliance with state and federal laws. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The Controller will report directly to the President of Playhut, Inc. Detailed responsibilities Listed: A. Financial responsibilities: 1. Setting Accounting Policies 2. Changing Accounting Rules as needed a. Working with outside CPA and consultants b. Alerting Management 3. Preparing external financial reports a. Disclosure requirements b. Coordination with Independent Auditor 4. Deal with external CPA for audits and other related matters B. Management Decision Responsibilities: 1. Budgets 2. Forecasts 3. Reports to Management 4. Selection of cost system 5. Capital Expenditure 6. Performance Measurement C. Treasury Responsibilities: 1. Sources of Financing 2. Public Offering 3. Cash Management 4. EDI 5. Credit Management 6. Hedging Financial Risks, e.g. Foreign exchange risk for international sales if any. D. Tax Planning: 1. Keep update on new tax laws and regulations 2. Selection of best alternative on tax issue 3. Compilation of reports as required by various tax authorities E. Risk Management responsibilities: 1. Deal with the insurance broker/agent for the insurance coverage 2. Calculate and determine the appropriate insured amount and coverage 3. Claim follow up and correspond with insurance company F. Other responsibilities: 1. Managing the Accounting Department. 2. Set up and manage the new Office abroad, regarding accounting issues and keep updates on Accounting Rules and Regulations in such area. Consolidate the accounting information with US head offices depending on the corporate structure chosen. 3. Computerization of Business – Co-heading the MIS division to develop in house EDI capabilities and provide needed management reports through in house program writing and development using MS software. 4. Corporate minutes and records keeping. 5. Interact directly with lawyers regarding business legal issues. 6. Self-development through continuing education to cope with changes in Company.
